A few of the people in the swearing in piece seem like they are not of a high residential class. Some are obviously of much higher class, there is big difference that stands out in the people. The peoples clothes they're wearing are very different. Some are wearing tuxes, and some are wearing cloaks and hoods that look somewhat torn, and they look like they need as much hope as they can get. however, all the people are integrated. There isn't a race that stands out, I think there are about an even number of blacks and whites.
I feel a little rushed. We've had plenty of time in the computer lab, but I would rather do this project in a longer span of time; doing different things in the classroom between days. I would have liked to have more days over time to look at my piece and not have to do all the analyzing so quickly. I feel like I could have came up with more of what I think about the piece if there was more time. Also I'm just not really the kind of person to analyze a piece and right about what I think it means, so that was a some what challenging part of this project.
Most of the question starters you put out for us were helpful, and some were a little too repetitive.
Overall this was a good project to learn from. I think it should be taught in 9th grade.

Blog #6!
Today I made two more slides in my power point, and a little more on the written description. I looked for art pieces that relate to The Swearing In, and found two possibilities. These two aren't locked in stone because I'm not sure if they're what I'm looking for, but I'll post them on Monday when I know for sure!

Today I analyzed my pieced and grew a stronger relationship to the characters in it. It was made after the swearing in of Jimmy Carter. It takes place in a forest or a place with tons of trees. There are people standing and all looking up all in the same direction. The people are all different races, and wearing very bold colors. A few people are standing in a tree, and some are holding american flags. I perceive that I'm going to have to make up a lot of the research and really state what I think the piece means because there is not much information on it at all. I need to analyze more deeply, and search for books in the library.

Check in!
I have decided on my piece! I chose The swearing in painting by Jacob Lawrence. I must now find research! Jacob Lawrence has his own website, and the art gallery that the piece is in has some pretty good sites. His website doesn't tell me anything about this particular art piece, but has a lot of info on Jacob Lawrence ant his style of art. There isn't actually that much info on The swearing in piece because it isn't his most famous, but I still think that I'll be able to find enough information. I liked other Jacob Lawrence's too, but this one had the most depth to me. On Friday I need to think critically about how this piece depicts human nature.

Jacob Lawrence Research
I'm thinking about maybe researching Jacob Lawrences, The swearing in piece, but still not sure. Jacob Lawrence is an African American artist from the 20th century. He painted to show the struggles of African Americans in this time.

This piece was created in 1977

So far I haven't loved any pieces of art that I've seen, so I'm still not quite sure which piece I'm researching. I have about three choices to maybe use, but I plan on keeping my eyes open for more art. I will make my decission soon!
So far I've been liking Edward Hoper, Jacob Lawrence, and Eli & Edythe.
When do we need to have our one art piece selected?
